ARTIST PROFILE
About David

Camera always in hand, David walks the creative line between talented artist and seasoned technician. He got his first Polaroid swinger camera at age 12 and bought his first 35mm with paper route money.

Friends and family will tell you that David’s cameras, creative eye, and photographic meanderings have been a part of holidays, parties, travels, dinners, and whatever happenings as far back as most can remember. Those who know David will tell you they’ve come to expect and count on his photographic recordings, both posed and candid.

The engineer in David led him to Polaroid for almost 30 years. He was lucky (and determined) enough to use pretty much every Polaroid camera made, including 4x5 Speed and Crown Graphics, experimenting with the same T57, T52, T55, and T59 films he helped manufacture. David also has fond memories of black and white darkrooms. He moved to digital in 2003.

David left Polaroid in 2006 and turned to photography full-time, graduating from Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts (CDIA). His professional work has appeared in print and online publications for Old Sturbridge Village, Boston Development Group, and Meriwether Productions. Media credits include New Hampshire Profiles Magazine and many Community News Company publications including MetroWest Daily News, and The Daily News Tribune. Favorite events have taken David rock climbing in the White Mountains, back to historical times in Sturbridge, and up close and personal documenting his Mom’s recent rehab after losing a leg to the complications of diabetes.

David says this about his photographic style:

“I enjoy capturing an unexpected moment or an interesting and unusual view from what I observe around me.”

“I don't think that I've really been and seen a place until I've seen the pictures.”

“I’m willing to wait on the right moment, the best light, and find the right angle to make the mundane into something more magnificent.”

“I have a strong photo journalistic interest and ability to tell a story with pictures.”

David is proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and Adobe Bridge, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Elements, Picassa, Soundslides, and Paint Shop Pro 8.
